What is a volunteer?
Volunteers are the most important resource community organizations have. The ability of people to work willingly together for the betterment of their community and themselves is a valuable resource.
What is the value of Volunteering? It is working with others to make a meaningful contribution to a better community.
Is volunteering about money?
Most people would say no. Volunteering is not about money. Volunteering is about giving, contributing, and helping other individuals and the community at large.
Should we measure it that way?
In the end, we cannot and should not put a dollar value on volunteering. How can we put a monetary value on ordinary people doing extraordinary things?
Why do people want to volunteer?
People choose to volunteer for a variety of reasons. For some it offers the chance to give something back to the community or make a difference to the people around them. For others it provides an opportunity to develop new skills or build on existing experience and knowledge.
